Do You NEED to go from Good to Great

Success is different for each of us. However, there's an easy process to get to the next level, from GOOD to GREAT. And the truth is, you'll be as successful as you need to be.

All the superstars you've heard about or seen on TV needed to become who they are: Oprah, Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Lady Gaga, Steve Jobs, Jeff Bezos, Mark Cuban. Even conservative Warren Buffett was intrinsically driven to become who he became.

There are millions of highly successful people you've never heard about who are equally as successful but not famous. So you may be somewhere in between.

You are successful, but you feel you could do more! And you're about to discover how you can become the best you can be.

You have to get specific about what you want your life to become. What you want and need to become. And you wouldn't be reading this if you couldn't achieve more. How much more is up to you.

Let's look at the 7 points of the psychological path you have already traveled to get you to where you are now. Maybe you did OK, perhaps not so OK, maybe good, and possibly great from time to time. Once you understand the steps in the formula, you can do better on the item you may not have excelled at. You direct your dreams or your vision with your choices. Your choices were based on a psychological fact, which is worth memorizing and repeating daily:

  1. You think
  2. Then you focus on what interests you most
  3. Your focus stimulates a vision of something you desire or want
  4. Wants, when dwelled upon, turn into goals
  5. Goals enable needs
  6. Needs bring about actions
  7. Organized actions create results

Your results are living proof reflecting how well you’ve done.

Are you satisfied? For sure, there may have been a few things you'd like to be able to do over. No doubt your situation is different, and there are many extenuating circumstances! The bottom line is you are where you are and what you are and have what you have based on the above psychological progression.

Your mind works like magic, and you are the magician. It is all up to you. And the nice thing about life is that you have many choices. And you get many chances at new beginnings.

A good sales leader is paid well; the respect that comes from being the sales manager is meaningful. You're included in decision-making sessions with top management and may even be a part of the senior management team in your company. Life is good!

There may not be a need to make any changes; things are comfortable as they are, so why rock the boat? Therein lies the major challenge. But know this, GOOD is the enemy of GREAT! The extra effort required to go from good to great is much less than you thought, especially when it comes to absolute financial freedom and peace of mind.

Great doesn't require a lot of extra work effort, but it does require a GREAT ATTITUDE. At the subconscious level, doing anything that will cause any discomfort is irritating and not a subject most want to discuss. So proceed with bite-size pieces.

Focus on your new beginning for only an hour at the start of each day for a week. Then, for the second week, focus for an hour at the end of each day to plan the next day.

After a couple of weeks, focus for two hours in the morning and an hour at the end of the day to plan the next day.

As I promised, you won't have to work more with the right attitude; in fact, you can work less!

The critical word is "Need." I know you want to be great, but a desire only carries you so far. Your short-term motivation will last until something distracts you. A need takes motivation to go to the next level, which requires a "trigger" to act. You won't take any action without a strong trigger based on a deep need within.

If you have a goal to be a great sales manager, what do you need this week and today to accomplish that goal? You will be working with your team to identify their needs, so you should begin with yourself to experience the motivation that comes with seeking to fulfill your needs. And then teach the process to the sales agent you have who has the best attitude and a significant need.

Make sure you have an open mind.

The biggest obstacle or challenge we experience with new clients is their closed minds. We understand many sales executives may resent an outside consultant looking over their shoulder, but great sales executives know they have to be open-minded and willing to learn.

Cut through the fluff, focus on High Payoff Activities, and ask yourself and your team daily, "Who am I closing today?"

The world has changed, and you can't get to where you want to go with the mindset that brought you to where you are now.
