Marie Williams, MA, JD
Marie Williams has the book learning and the degrees, which she has put into practice to carve out a career that has netted more than a quarter-billion dollars in sales in her own right.
Marie is the Korean War offspring of a Black American soldier and a Korean mother, and as such, she was an embarrassment to most Koreans. She was often spit upon and called the "N" word as a child. When she migrated to the United States at age five, she spoke no English, so she was not allowed into school.
Still, Marie persisted.
By age six, she taught herself enough English to be admitted to school, and from there, it was honors all the way through high school in San Antonio. By age 21, she graduated with a BA in psychology from the University of Texas, where she went on to earn her law degree by the age of 24.
Her interest in how diversity affects an individual’s attitudes led her to psychology. But the field of law appealed to her as well. After graduating from law school and hanging her shingle with a private firm, where she had a particularly keen interest in special education, Marie decided it was time for some trial experience. So she joined the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant DA.
While defending a client when she was still in private practice, her interest in psychology was reignited. So after she left the DA’s office, she relocated to Miami to attend Barry University, where she obtained her Master’s Degree in Clinical Science. All, by the way, while working a full-time job in real estate and attending classes and studying at night and on the weekends.
During that time, she also acquired her real estate broker’s license. And while listing and selling, she also found the time to test concepts of why some agents were successful and some were not.
The basis for Marie’s Master’s thesis was her fascination with attitude and motivation, and how these traits impact an individual’s level of achievement. Specifically, she studied how personality characteristics, coupled with whether individuals set specific goals, impacted a sales associate’s ability to generate income. Her thesis focused on goal setting, discipline, and self-control for real estate agents.
Now, coupling years working within all aspects of real estate with her educational experience, Marie is imparting the wisdom and teaching the tools that have helped her achieve real estate success, amassing more than $350,000,000 in closed sales contracts along the way
